PCO Competition

PCO YOUNG ARTISTS COMPETITION

The Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra (PCO) and the Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the PMTA are pleased to co-sponsor a solo competition open to young musicians who reside within a fifty mile radius of Pittsburgh. Up to three finalists will perform with the orchestra at the April 6, 2013 concert.  Instrumentalists up to the age of 18 or senior year of high school and vocalists through the age of 21 are eligible to audition. The applicant will perform for a panel of judges one movement or a combination of two shorter movements from the standard literature of their instrument/voice that is to be performed with orchestral accompaniment. The applicant will be required to provide his/her own piano accompaniment for the audition.

The 2012-2013 Young Artist Competition finalists will perform at the April 6, 2013 concert in the Upper St. Clair High School Theater in Upper St. Clair, Pittsburgh,PA 15241. Past winners of the PCO/Greater Pgh PMTA Solo Competition have pursued their musical careers at Eastman, Indiana University at Bloomington and have been featured on the PBS radio program “From the Top”.

Auditions for the coming season will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2012 at Coleman Music Studios, 1373 McLaughlin Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15241.
